Our Country Powers Stories

As my stomach growled at me late one Sunday night craving for a midnight snack I stumbled across a new television channel, Destination America, and the show known as Fast Food Mania. Well, that didn’t help my hunger pains; if anything it just made them worse. I couldn’t peel my eyes off the mouth-watering show. Was it the food or was I hungry for a story?

The host, Jon Hein, took me on a journey around the globe celebrating America’s favorite fast food treats. Rather than appeasing my appetite with food I was satisfied by the untold stories of some of the greatest fast food joints.  And I’ll tell you what – I’m an expert on all things Wendy’s now. Did you know that the first Wendy’s restaurant opened in Columbus, Ohio? All the times I’ve travelled to that very city to spend time with our partners at United Church Homes and I have never been! How could that be? Adding that to the to-do list for next visit. Have you ever lifted up the bun on your burger or sandwich and noticed your ketchup in a signature “W”?

As I watched this show with my boyfriend we were reminiscing.  We were hearing fast food stories of our country but my boyfriend was also getting an earful on my personal family stories from Wendy’s. Yes, as odd as it sounds I have family stories from a fast food restaurant, who doesn’t? What are some of your fast food restaurant stories?
