Cary, N.C., Dec. 22, 2011 – Three deserving nonprofit organizations received an early Christmas present Thursday as Signal Hill announced the winners to its “Give an Adventure in Story” contest.
The Carying Place of Cary, N.C., Plymouth Community Renewal Center of Louisville, Ky., and Best Friend Pet Adoption of Cary, N.C., will all receive complimentary services from the Cary-based leadership and communications consultancy.
“We originally intended on choosing only one organization,” says Signal Hill Principal and Creative Director Daniel Pryfogle. “But the need is obviously great and the response was so strong that we’re going to try to help as many organizations as we can.”
More than 30 people nominated a total of 18 small organizations during the 10-day contest.
“We believe these organizations have excellent missions that would benefit from our services, and we’re really looking forward to partnering with them in telling their stories,” says Cathy Gordon, associate director of communications.
Contest winner Plymouth Community Renewal Center agrees. Without a website, the organization has struggled in the past to share its story.
“We at Plymouth Community Renewal Center are ecstatic about this opportunity to greatly improve our marketing and communication capabilities,” says Plymouth Community Renewal Center Executive Director Markham French.
With just a handful of employees, the center has been providing educational, economic and cultural resources to the local community since 1917 through activities like after-school care, mentoring program and a food bank.
Based in the Cary area since 1992, contest winner The Carying Place helps working families with children who need housing assistance. Though the organization is relatively unknown, it has helped nearly 300 local families become self-sufficient through housing and supportive services.
Also in the Cary area, Best Friend Pet Adoption is a completely volunteer-driven nonprofit that serves to educate the public on animal well-being and meet the needs of abandoned and abused pets.
“We’re very excited about taking on these new projects and plan to use our skills to elevate the messages of these hardworking organizations that may not have the capacity to let their inspiring stories be known,” Gordon says.
