The Signal Hill Company is once again expanding its team to include Digital Storytelling Specialist Mallory Flynn. Flynn’s particular talent for using digital platforms to propel Signal Hill stories far and wide and leverage their impact upon landing, became evident during a six-month internship with the company earlier this year. A recent college graduate, Flynn holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from North Carolina State University.
“Signal Hill gave me room to grow. They not only trusted me as an intern, but gave me the opportunity to enter the work force fresh out of college while exploring my own ideas," says Flynn. "In a time where the job search is tough, the team provided great direction.”
Prior to joining Signal Hill, Flynn worked with Merge Records in Durham and Deep South Entertainment. In her new position, Flynn will help Signal Hill continue to build its year-old online media venture, Senior Correspondent, a news outlet powered entirely by the stories of older adults.
Just this week, Flynn helped Signal Hill launch a lifelong learning initiative aimed at closing the digital divide between generations. Residents of Glenaire, a continuing care retirement community in Cary, N.C., are taking part in an introductory level course on social media. The four-week course marks the first of what will be an ongoing effort by mission-based Signal Hill to connect North Carolina seniors to an increasingly digital world, and give them the tools to take advantage of all that social media has to offer.
“We are excited to welcome Mallory to Signal Hill in this new capacity, and know that she is going to be a valuable member of our team as we work to harness the power of social media and get the most mileage out of every story we tell for our clients and for ourselves,” says Daniel Pryfogle, principal and creative director.
