Why 36 Hours Is Just Enough

Why 36 Hours Is Just Enough

Upon entering “adulthood,” I quickly discovered two things.

  1. I now had the ability to save up for all those big travel plans that I'd dreamed of.
  2. I no longer had long summer breaks to carry out those big travel plans I'd dreamed of.

And then I discovered The New York Times 36 Hours travel blog, and with it, the book. Boy was it a life-changer.

If you've only got a weekend but you've been bit by the travel bug, this is the perfect way to satisfy that need for adventure. From exploring different countries to our very own United States, you'll find some full-proof plans to get the most out of your short weekend adventure.

It works for those just looking for exploration in the form of words, too. I've found it enjoyable not only to look for new experiences, but to compare my experiences in past locations to those listed in the book.

My personal favorites so far have been Oxford, England and Asheville, N.C. I find both to be spot on, and any unfamiliar territory gives me a new reason to visit these destinations again.

Not to mention that the book is absolutely gorgeous and divided by regions – it even makes the Midwest look appealing. I'll let that fact speak for itself!
